Lessons FAQs

What services do you offer?

1

I teach to ALL ages and All skill levels. I offer two types of private music lessons.

The first is traditional piano instruction. These lessons build a foundation in piano technique, music theory, and performance — taught entirely through a jazz and rock and roll repertoire. I do not teach classical music.

The second type of lesson is my specialty, and it's open to musicians of ANY level who play ANY instrument. If you or your child are already studying with another teacher, these lessons work alongside that instruction. Music is a language that can't be learned by studying books and practicing in isolation. What I teach is how to communicate — how to listen, respond, and hold a real conversation with other musicians.

I am extremely flexible. We can schedule lessons one at a time or build a weekly schedule to fit your life.

Getting started is simple. Fill out the contact form below, give me a call, or email me. During our first lesson, we will find out what skills we can work on to further your musical adventure. I will get a feel for your level of playing, and you will have the opportunity to ask me any questions you have.

What style of music do you teach?

4

I do not teach classical music. I teach through a repertoire of jazz, rock, blues and funk. Music that by nature is improvisational and which creates space for musicians to “dialogue” with each other. Music is about passion, and we'll explore yours together. We'll start with the music you love — but my goal is to help you discover that music doesn't have to fit into a neat box. Stay open to new sounds and styles, and you'll become a better musician.
