Lessons FAQs
What services do you offer?
1
I teach to ALL ages and All skill levels. I offer two types of private music lessons.
The first is traditional piano instruction. These lessons build a foundation in piano technique, music theory, and performance — taught entirely through a jazz and rock and roll repertoire. I do not teach classical music.
The second type of lesson is my specialty, and it's open to musicians of ANY level who play ANY instrument. If you or your child are already studying with another teacher, these lessons work alongside that instruction. Music is a language that can't be learned by studying books and practicing in isolation. What I teach is how to communicate — how to listen, respond, and hold a real conversation with other musicians.
Lessons are available in 30, 45, and 60-minute sessions. Weekly lessons are ideal, but I'll work with whatever schedule fits your life. Because I tour regularly, the number of lessons per month will vary — but your day and time will stay consistent.
Prices are:
$30 for a 30 minute lesson
$45 for a 45 minute lesson
$60 for an hour lesson.
Getting started is simple. Fill out the contact form below, give me a call or email me. We can schedule an initial 30 min assessment where we will discuss what you hope to get out of the lessons. I will get a feel for your level of playing and if we are a good fit we can then schedule your lessons. You will have the opportunity to ask me any questions you have.

How do I get started?
What makes you different?

I don’t teach songs — I teach musicians how to listen, respond, and find their own voice. My lessons aren't built around sheet music and repetition; they're built around the same improvisational conversation that happens on stage every night. Each lesson is a musical conversation. Whether you play trumpet, drums, guitar, piano or the accordion, the end goal is the same - to develop the vocabulary necessary to communicate with your fellow musicians regardless of what your playing or who you are playing with. Please read my LESSONS PAGE for a deeper understanding of my teaching philosophy .
What style of music do you teach?

I do not teach classical music. I teach through a repertoire of jazz, rock, blues and funk. Music that by nature is improvisational and which creates space for musicians to “dialogue” with each other. Music is about passion, and we'll explore yours together. We'll start with the music you love — but my goal is to help you discover that music doesn't have to fit into a neat box. Stay open to new sounds and styles, and you'll become a better musician.
